A bit about me:
I live in Austin, Texas, with my husband Chad and have two grown daughters, Rebekah and Samantha, and two teenage sons, Adam and David. We love to work hard, play hard, gather together in the kitchen, relax at the lake, and spoil our goofy pup, Willie Nelson.
I'm originally from Southern California, where I led a normal happy-go-lucky childhood until my teen years. Middle and high school were different stories. Chaos and darkness seemed to hover over me like a storm cloud, making life dreadful and depressing. I was rebellious and strong-willed. God bless my parents because our home seemed like the only place that did not feel dark and chaotic.
That’s why I am passionate about family and making my home a soft, safe place to laugh and be loved on after a hard day.
MY PLAN
By some miracle of God, I made it to college and majored in English Education and Linguistics at Cal State University Long Beach. I knew I loved written and spoken words and thought I would become a teacher.
While there, I experienced Jesus in a powerful way that changed my life radically. The chaos left and the darkness lifted. I felt peace, joy, and clarity for the first time since I was a child. After graduation, I worked in full-time campus ministry at UCLA sharing my faith with college students and speaking in high schools and churches about God’s plans and purposes. It was a crazy detour, but I probably impacted them more than had I been their English teacher!
GOD’S PLAN
While working at UCLA, I met and married my husband, Chad, who was a student and football player. Shortly after we were married, he was drafted to the NFL, and we began a wild and crazy journey across the map that took me way out of my California comfort zone to Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, and Houston.
We eventually settled in Austin, Texas, where we have been for over 20 years. Except for Rebekah, born in snowy Chicago, all my kiddos were born here, and we consider Austin home.
PARENTING
Parenting can be challenging and messy, and some days are defeating. But the strength and wisdom from God and a supportive community compel me to stick with it, go back to the drawing board, and improve upon yesterday. I don’t want to settle for mediocrity. I want to parent well and glorify God. These are my people, and I will give them everything I’ve got and then some, and it’s going to take strong faith! I want to help you do the same.
MENTORING
Over the years, I have been blessed to have some fantastic mentors in my life. Hands down, those were the greatest seasons of personal growth, and I don't know how I would have made it through without their wisdom and guidance. Now I help women gain confidence, purpose, and a sense of identity through one-on-one mentoring and small group teaching. Think of it as a personal trainer for the spirit and the soul! I truly believe what the Bible says in the book of Ecclesiastes; That two are better than one because we can comfort each other and help each other out in times of need.
